+ Here in this gospel book is the declaration relating to the half hide at Potton which Ælfhelm gave to Leofsige, his goldsmith, to dispose of during his life and at his death as pleased him best. The witnesses of this were those who appear in this document: Ælfhelm his lord, Abbot Brihtnoth and the monk Ælfgar and Ælfhelm the young and his two sons - Æthelric and Ælfwold - and Wulfmær, the bishop's brother, and Ælfmær cild and Leofric of Holwell and his son Godric and Æthelric of Hernicwelle and the priest Ælfsige and his son and the priest Osferth.
